FAQ

Why does the cell not change after I modify the number format?

  1. Check whether the cell content is stored as plain text.
  2. If the value starts with an apostrophe or the cell content is being treated as text, first convert it into a form that can use number display.
  3. Select the cell again, then apply Number, Date, Percentage, or another format.

Why is a date displayed as a number?

  1. Select the target cell.
  2. Open Number Format.
  3. Change the current format from General or Number to Date.
  4. Return to the sheet and confirm that the date display is restored.

Does a custom format change the original data?

  1. No. Number Format only changes how the value is displayed.
  2. The actual value stored in the cell stays the same.
  3. If you need to change the real content, edit the cell value directly instead of only changing the display format.
