What should I do if data is lost after merging cells?
- After cells are merged, only the content in the upper-left cell is kept.
- If other cell content was overwritten, use Undo right away to return to the previous editing state.
- Before merging cells in a spreadsheet, back up important data or move the content you want to keep into the upper-left cell first.
Why can’t some cells be merged?
- Make sure the selected cells are adjacent.
- If the selection is not continuous, drag the selection handles again so the target area becomes one continuous range.
- Enter editing mode before you merge cells in WPS on iOS, so the spreadsheet is editable.
Can splitting restore all content from before the merge?
- Splitting can restore the cell structure.
- However, content overwritten during the merge is not restored automatically after the split.
