1. Insert an Icon
Entry path: Tools → Insert → Picture over Cells / Picture in Cell → Icon
- Tap Tools at the bottom.
- Select the Insert tab.
- Tap Picture over Cells or Picture in Cell, then switch to Icon.
- Browse the icon library by category, such as Featured, Basic Shapes, and Markers.
- Tap the icon you want to insert it into the worksheet.
- If the icon shows a membership label, use it under the permissions available to your account.
- With Picture over Cells, the icon floats above the cells. With Picture in Cell, the icon is embedded in a cell and fits the cell size.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected icon appears in the current worksheet.
- What you can do next: You can continue moving it, resizing it, or editing the spreadsheet.
- No unwanted changes: Existing cell content and worksheet structure stay unchanged.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you do not switch to the Icon category first, you may stay in another picture insertion view.
- Permissions or membership: Some icon assets show a membership label before use.

2. Adjust Icon Position and Size
Entry path: Select the inserted icon → Floating toolbar / drag handles
- Tap the inserted icon to select it.
- When the floating toolbar appears, drag the icon to move it in the worksheet.
- Drag the control handles on the icon border to resize it.
- Tap any area outside the icon to finish.
- If the icon was inserted with Picture in Cell, its position follows the cell and its display size fits the cell area.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The icon moves to the target position or shows the new size.
- What you can do next: You can continue editing the spreadsheet, select the icon again, or save the file.
- No unwanted changes: Other cell data is not affected.
Tips While Using
