How-to Guide

1. Apply Cell Fill Color

Entry path: bottom toolbar → Tools → Home → Fill Color

  1. Select one or more cells that need a background color.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Open Home and tap Fill Color.
  4. Choose the color you want from the color panel.
  5. If you need more options, tap ... to view more fill colors.
  6. The selected cells update immediately with the new background color.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: the selected cells show the new background color.
  • Next action available: you can keep typing, adjust other formatting, or save the file.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if no cell is selected first, the color will not be applied to the intended area.
  • Display tip: if the background color is dark, adjust the font color as needed for better readability.

2. Clear Cell Fill Color

Entry path: bottom toolbar → Tools → Home → Fill Color

  1. Select one or more cells whose background color you want to remove.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Open Home and tap Fill Color.
  4. Select No Fill (∅ icon).
  5. The cell background returns to the default transparent state.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: the previous background color is removed and the cells return to their default appearance.
  • Next action available: you can apply another color or continue editing the spreadsheet.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: choosing white fill is not the same as clearing fill color.
  • Editing tip: use No Fill when you want the default transparent effect.
