How-to Index

How-to Guide

1. Set Paper Orientation

Entry point: Page tab → Paper Orientation

  1. Open the WPS Docs file that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Page tab at the top.
  3. Click the Paper Orientation button.
  4. Select Portrait or Landscape.
  5. The orientation is applied to the current section or the entire document.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The page layout changes to the selected portrait or landscape view.
  • Next actions: You can continue typing, formatting, printing, or saving the document.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you do not confirm which section the cursor is in, the change may affect a larger part of the document.
  • Environment limits: If the file is being edited collaboratively, save first and then check whether the layout looks correct.

2. Set a Different Orientation for Specific Pages

Entry point: Insert tab → Page Break → Next Page Section Break

  1. Place the cursor before the page where you want to change the orientation.
  2. Insert a Next Page Section Break.
  3. Place the cursor in the new section.
  4. Open Paper Orientation on the Page tab.
  5. Select Portrait or Landscape.
  6. The orientation applies only to the current section.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The selected section changes orientation while other sections can keep their original layout.
  • Next actions: You can continue editing text, tables, or chart pages in the same document.
  • No side effects: Other sections that were not selected should not change to the same orientation.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you do not insert a section break first, the orientation change may apply to the whole document.
  • Environment limits: Before printing a mixed-layout file, preview the page order and margin results.
