How-to Guide
1. Find text
Entry: Home tab → Find and Replace drop-down menu → Find
- Click Find on the Home tab, or press
Command + F. - Enter the text you want to find.
- Click Previous or Next to move through matches.
- Review the highlighted matches in the document.
- Click a result to jump to the corresponding location.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: matching text is highlighted in the document.
- Next action available: you can continue moving to the previous or next result.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if no search text is entered, the target text cannot be located.
- Environment note: this works in the currently open editable document.
2. Replace text
Entry: Home tab → Find and Replace drop-down menu → Replace
- Click Replace on the Home tab, or press
Command + H. - Enter the text you want to find.
- Enter the new text in the Replace with box.
- Select Replace to update the current match, or select Replace All to update all matches at once.
- If needed, use Previous or Next to review matching content again.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the current match or all matches are updated with the new text.
- Next action available: you can continue editing, save the file, or undo the change.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: before using Replace All, confirm that the search text is correct.
- Environment note: replacement changes the current document content directly.
