1. Set password encryption for a new or current document
Entry point: Tap the ≡ icon in the upper-right corner → Document Encryption → turn on the Password Encryption switch
- Open the document you want to encrypt.
- Tap the ≡ icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select Document Encryption from the list.
- Turn on the Password Encryption switch.
- Set a password in the pop-up panel.
- To limit viewing, set an Open Password.
- To limit editing, set a Modify Password.
- Tap OK to finish.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The document encryption settings are saved, and opening or modifying the document later follows the password rules you set.
- Next actions: You can continue editing, saving, or sharing the document.
Tips While Using
- Keep your password in a safe place. If you forget it, it cannot be recovered in the app.
- The open password controls viewing, and the modify password controls editing. You can set either one or both.
2. Manage encryption settings for an existing document
Entry point: Tap the ≡ icon in the upper-right corner → Document Encryption → adjust password settings
- Open a document that already has encryption settings.
- Tap the ≡ icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select Document Encryption from the list.
- Turn off Set Open Password or Set Modify Password as needed.
- Tap Done to save the changes.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The new password status takes effect, and the document follows the latest viewing or editing rules.
- Next actions: You can continue saving and using the document with the updated encryption settings.
Tips While Using
- Before changing encryption settings, make sure the current password information is available.
- If you remove one type of password protection, the related access restriction is also removed.
