1. Insert page numbers

Entry point: Tools > Insert > Page Number

  1. Open the text document that you want to edit and place the cursor in the document editing area.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select the Insert tab.
  4. Tap Page Number.
  5. In the settings panel, choose where the page number should appear: header or footer.
  6. Select the alignment: left, center, or right.
  7. Choose a page-number style, such as 1, 2, 3 or i, ii, iii.
  8. Set the starting page number if needed.
  9. Confirm the settings to insert the page numbers.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected page numbers appear in the document.
  • What you can do next: Continue editing the document, and the page numbers remain visible and update with pagination changes.
  • No side effects: If you remove page numbers, all page numbers in the document are removed together.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you are not in the Insert tab, the Page Number option may not appear.
  • Document limitation: The file must be editable.
  • Feature limitation: The iOS version does not support a different first page setting in this workflow.
