1. Add a Comment

Entry point:

  • Review tab → Comment → Insert Comment
  • Right-click menu → Insert Comment
  • Shortcut key Ctrl + Alt + M
  • Comment icon on the right side of the editing area
  1. Select the text or object that you want to comment on.
  2. Use any available entry point to insert a comment.
  3. Type your comment in the comment box.
  4. Press Shift + Enter if you need a line break.
  5. To notify a collaborator, type @ and select a document collaborator or contact.
  6. Click Send or press Enter to post the comment.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: A new comment appears next to the selected content, and the right-side comment area shows the comment text.
  • Next actions: You can reply to, edit, resolve, or delete the comment.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you do not select text or an object first, the comment anchor may not appear where you expect.
  • Environment limits: Keep an internet connection available when you use @mentions or collaborative syncing.

2. Reply to a Comment

Entry point: Comment box → Reply

  1. Click the comment that you want to reply to.
  2. Expand the related comment thread if needed.
  3. Click Reply.
  4. Type your reply.
  5. Press Enter to submit it.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: A new reply appears under the original comment.
  • Next actions: You can continue the discussion in the same thread.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If the wrong thread is selected, your reply may be added under a different comment.

3. Edit a Comment

Entry point: Comment box expand menu → Edit

  1. Click the comment that you want to edit.
  2. Open the expand menu in the comment box.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Update the comment text.
  5. Press Enter to save the change.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The original comment text is updated.
  • Next actions: You can still reply to, resolve, or delete the comment.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you leave the edit state without submitting, the updated text is not saved.

4. Resolve a Comment

Entry point: Comment box → Mark as Resolved

  1. Click the comment that you want to process.
  2. Click Mark as Resolved in the upper-right area of the comment box.
  3. Click it again if you want to remove the resolved status.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The comment changes to a resolved state.
  • Next actions: You can reopen it later if more discussion is needed.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: Resolving a comment too early can make follow-up work harder to track.

5. Delete a Comment

Entry point: Comment box → Delete

  1. Click the comment that you want to delete.
  2. Click Delete in the comment box.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The selected comment is removed from the comment area.
  • Next actions: You can continue managing other comments.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you delete a comment before confirming its content, the discussion record is no longer available in the same place.

6. Show or Hide the Comment Box

Entry point: Review tab → Comment → Show Comment Box

  1. Open the Review tab.
  2. Click Show Comment Box in the Comment area.
  3. After you turn it off, the right-side comment box is hidden.
  4. Click Show Comment Box again to display it again.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The right-side comment box is shown or hidden based on your action.
  • Next actions: When it is visible, you can continue reviewing and managing comments.

  • Common mistakes: Hidden comments are often mistaken for missing comments when the comment box is simply turned off.

7. Open the Comment Panel

Entry point: Review tab → Comment → Show Comment Panel

  1. Open the Review tab.
  2. Click Show Comment Panel in the Comment area.
  3. Review all document comments in the panel.
  4. Filter comments by resolved, unresolved, everyone, or only comments related to you.
  5. Select a comment in the panel if you need to delete it.
