1. Add a Comment

Entry points:

  • Review tab → Comment → Insert Comment
  • Right-click menu → Insert Comment
  • Shortcut: Option + Command + M
  • Comment icon on the right side of the editing area
  1. Select the text or object you want to comment on.
  2. Use any available comment entry point.
  3. Type your comment in the comment box.
  4. If needed, type @ in the comment box and choose a collaborator to notify.
  5. Click Send or press Enter to submit the comment.

Success Criteria

  • A new comment box appears beside the selected content.
  • The comment text is visible in the thread.
  • The main body text and layout stay unchanged.

Tips While Using

  • Select the target text or object first so the comment is anchored clearly.
  • Before using the shortcut, make sure the document window is active.

2. Reply to a Comment

Entry point: Comment box → Reply

  1. Click the comment you want to reply to.
  2. Open the related option in the comment box or find the Reply entry directly.
  3. Type your reply.
  4. Press Enter to submit it.

Success Criteria

  • A new reply appears under the original comment.
  • The discussion stays grouped in one thread.

Tips While Using

  • Replies are visible to relevant collaborators in collaboration mode.
  • Confirm that you are replying to the intended thread before submitting.

3. Edit a Comment

Entry point: Expanded menu in the comment box → Edit

  1. Click the comment you want to edit.
  2. Open the expanded menu in the comment box.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Update the comment text.
  5. Press Enter to save the change.

Success Criteria

  • The comment content updates to the revised text.
  • The comment remains attached to the same discussion location.

Tips While Using

  • Check the target comment carefully before editing.
  • Review the surrounding context after editing to keep the message clear.

4. Resolve a Comment

Entry point: Comment box → Resolve

  1. Click the comment you want to mark as resolved.
  2. Click Resolve in the comment box.
  3. Check whether the comment changes to a resolved state and disappears from the active area.

Success Criteria

  • The comment is marked as resolved.
  • The active editing view shows fewer visible comments or hides that thread.

Tips While Using

  • Resolve comments when the issue has already been handled.
  • If you need to review resolved items later, open the comment panel and use filters.

5. Delete a Comment

Entry point: Comment box → Delete

  1. Click the comment you want to delete.
  2. Click Delete in the comment box.
  3. Confirm the deletion if the interface asks for confirmation.

Success Criteria

  • The selected comment is removed from the document comment area.
  • The document body text is not changed.

Tips While Using

  • Confirm that the comment is no longer needed before deleting it.
  • You can also delete a selected comment from the comment panel.

6. Show or Hide the Comment Box

Entry point: Review tab → Comment → Show Comment Box

  1. Click the Review tab.
  2. Click Show Comment Box in the Comment area.
  3. Check whether the comment box on the right side closes.
  4. Click Show Comment Box again to display it again.

Success Criteria

  • The comment box can be toggled between visible and hidden states.
  • The document body remains editable.

Tips While Using

  • Hide the comment box temporarily when you want more editing space.
  • Hiding the comment box does not remove existing comments.

7. Open the Comment Panel

Entry point: Review tab → Comment → Show Comment Panel

  1. Click the Review tab.
  2. Click Show Comment Panel in the Comment area.
  3. Review all document comments in the panel.
  4. Filter comments by resolved, unresolved, everyone, or only items related to you as needed.
  5. If needed, select a comment in the panel and delete it.
