1. Align Left

Feature entry: Home tab → Align Left

  1. Select the paragraph you want to format, or place the cursor in the target paragraph.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click Align Left in the paragraph area.

Success Criteria

  • The left edge of the paragraph lines up with the left page margin.
  • New text in that paragraph keeps left alignment.

Tips While Using

  • If no text is selected, the setting applies to the current paragraph.
  • Paragraph indentation can affect the final visual position.

2. Center Text

Feature entry: Home tab → Center

  1. Select the paragraph you want to format, or place the cursor in the target paragraph.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click Center.

Success Criteria

  • The paragraph appears centered between the left and right margins.
  • Titles or short lines have a clearer visual center.

Tips While Using

  • Center alignment is more suitable for titles or short paragraphs.
  • Long body text may become harder to read when centered.

3. Align Right

Feature entry: Home tab → Align Right

  1. Select the paragraph you want to format, or place the cursor in the target paragraph.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click Align Right.

Success Criteria

  • The right edge of the paragraph lines up with the right page margin.
  • Dates, signatures, or short notes appear on the right side.

Tips While Using

  • Align Right is commonly used for short text items.
  • Indents or special tab settings can affect the final display.

4. Justify Text

Feature entry: Home tab → Justify

  1. Select the paragraph you want to format, or place the cursor in the target paragraph.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click Justify.

Success Criteria

  • The paragraph has cleaner left and right edges.
  • Body text looks more even across the page.

Tips While Using

  • Justify automatically adjusts word or character spacing.
  • The last line usually remains shorter than the full paragraph width.

5. Use Distributed Alignment

Feature entry: Home tab → Distributed alignment

  1. Select the paragraph you want to format, or place the cursor in the target paragraph.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click Distributed alignment.

Success Criteria

  • Characters in the paragraph are spread across the full line width.
  • Special layout paragraphs show a more stretched horizontal arrangement.

Tips While Using

  • Distributed alignment is more suitable for specific layout needs than for long body text.
  • Compared with Justify, the character spacing effect is more noticeable.

6. Set Alignment from the Floating Toolbar

Feature entry: Select text → Floating toolbar → Alignment

  1. Select the text content you want to adjust.
  2. Find the alignment options on the floating toolbar that appears.
  3. Choose the alignment style you need.

Success Criteria

  • The selected paragraph updates to the chosen alignment immediately.
  • You can finish the change without moving back to the top ribbon.

Tips While Using

  • The floating toolbar usually appears after text is selected.
  • If it does not appear, confirm that text is still selected.
