How-to Guide

1. Drag to Adjust Column Width

Feature entry: Hover over a column border and drag it

  1. Open the presentation that contains the table.
  2. Move your pointer to the right border of the column you want to adjust.
  3. When the pointer changes to a left-right resize shape, hold down the left mouse button.
  4. Drag the border left or right to the width you want.
  5. Release the mouse button to finish the adjustment.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The target column becomes wider or narrower.
  • What you can do next: Continue editing the table or adjust other columns.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the pointer is not placed on the column border accurately, the resize cursor may not appear.
  • Environment note: The table must be in an editable state.

2. Set an Exact Column Width

Feature entry: Select the column → Table Tools → Column Width

  1. Open the presentation and select the column you want to adjust. You can also select multiple columns at once.
  2. In the top Table Tools area, find the column width control.
  3. Enter the exact width value you want, or use the controls to fine-tune the width.
  4. Confirm the result and check the updated table layout.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected column updates to the width you entered.
  • What you can do next: Continue applying the same width to other columns or save the file.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the target column is not selected first, the setting may not apply where you expect.
  • Environment note: When multiple columns are selected, the same width value is applied to all selected columns.

3. Distribute Columns Evenly

Feature entry: Select the whole table or multiple columns → Table Tools → Distribute Columns

  1. Select the whole table, or select the columns that should use the same width.
  2. Open Table Tools at the top of the window.
  3. Select the Distribute Columns command.
  4. Check whether the selected columns now have the same width.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected columns display the same width.
  • What you can do next: Fine-tune individual columns after the even distribution if needed.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If only one cell is selected, the result may not match the expected even distribution.
  • Environment note: The result depends on the range of columns you selected.
