How-to Guide
1. Set Shape Outline
Feature entry: Drawing Tools tab → Shape Styles area → Shape Outline
- Select the shape that needs a border.
- Click the Drawing Tools tab.
- Click the Shape Outline drop-down button.
- Choose from theme colors, gradient fill, more border colors, the eyedropper, weight, dashed lines, or arrow styles.
- Click the option that you want to apply to the current shape.
- If needed, click More Settings for additional controls.
Success Criteria
- The selected shape updates its border style immediately.
- You can continue editing other objects in the presentation.
Tips While Using
- Select the shape first, or the related ribbon entry may not be available.
- A thicker border can change the visual balance of the shape.
2. Customize the Border
Feature entry: Drawing Tools tab → Shape Outline → More Settings → Object Properties → Line
- Select the target shape.
- Click the Drawing Tools tab.
- Open the Shape Outline drop-down menu.
- Click More Settings to open the Object Properties pane on the right.
- Under Fill & Line, select Line.
- Choose No Line, Solid Line, or Gradient Line, then adjust color, transparency, line type, and related settings.
- Click a blank area to finish applying the result.
Success Criteria
- The Object Properties pane opens with line settings.
- The shape border updates as you change the options.
Tips While Using
- Gradient Line is useful when you want richer visual layering.
- If you want to remove the border, choose No Line.
3. Use Shape Outline from the Home Tab
Feature entry: Home tab → Shape area → Shape Outline
- Select the target shape.
- Click the Home tab.
- Click the Shape Outline drop-down button.
- Choose the border color, weight, or line style.
