1. Import data files (XLSX/ET/CSV/TXT and more)

Entry path: Data → Get Data → Import Data

1. Select the starting cell where you want to place the imported results.
2. Click the Data tab.
3. Click the Get Data drop-down menu.
4. Click Import Data.
5. In the dialog box, choose a connection method. In most cases, select Open data file directly.
6. Click Select Data Source and choose the source file.
7. Complete the settings based on the file type. For text files, set the encoding and delimiter. For spreadsheet files, select the table name and fields.
8. Preview the data and click Finish to import it into the current worksheet.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: Imported data appears in the worksheet starting from the selected cell.
• What you can do next: You can continue filtering, calculating, saving, or refreshing the imported results.

Tips While Using

• For text files, confirm the correct encoding and delimiter before finishing the import.
• Install the ACCESS data engine before importing external data.

2. Import website data

Entry path: Data → Get Data → From Web Link

1. Open the target worksheet.
2. Click the Data tab.
3. Click the Get Data drop-down menu.
4. Click From Web Link.
5. Enter the website URL in the address bar and click Go.
6. Wait for the content to load in the lower pane.
7. Select the table content you want and click Import.
8. Confirm the destination location to finish the import.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: The selected website table content appears in the current worksheet.
• What you can do next: You can edit or refresh the imported website data.

Tips While Using

• This task requires a stable internet connection.
• If the webpage structure is complex, confirm that you selected the correct table area before importing.

3. Import database data

Entry path: Data → Get Data → Connect to Database

1. Click the Data tab.
2. Click the Get Data drop-down menu.
3. Click Connect to Database.
4. Select the database type you want to import.
5. Enter the connection details and choose the data table.
6. Confirm the destination cell location.
7. Click Finish to start the import.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: Data from the selected database table is written into the worksheet.
• What you can do next: You can analyze the data or use Refresh All later to sync updates.

Tips While Using

• Make sure you have valid database access permissions and connection details.
• Confirm that the ACCESS data engine is installed before starting the import.

4. Refresh imported data

Entry path: Data → Refresh All

1. After the source file or source data changes, return to the worksheet that contains the imported data.
2. Click Refresh All on the Data tab.
3. Wait while WPS reads the external data source again.
4. Check whether the worksheet now shows the updated data.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: The imported results in the worksheet update to the latest data.
• What you can do next: You can continue analyzing, saving, or sharing the updated worksheet.

Tips While Using

• Before refreshing, confirm that the source file path, website address, or database connection is still available.

5. Break external data links

Entry path: Data → Edit Links → Break Link

1. Click Edit Links on the Data tab.
2. In the link management window, select Break Link.
3. Confirm that you no longer need to keep the worksheet synced with the external source.
4. Complete the action.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: The worksheet no longer keeps the external data link.
• What you can do next: You can continue editing and saving the current results as static data.

Tips While Using

• After a link is broken, you can no longer use Refresh All for that connection.
