1. Split text by delimiter
Feature path: Tools → Data → Split Columns
- Select the cell or range that you want to split.
- Tap Tools at the bottom of the screen and open the Data tab.
- Tap Split Columns.
- Select a delimiter type: comma, space, semicolon, or plus sign.
- Review the result. The split data is generated in the columns to the right of the original cell or range.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the original text is split into multiple columns based on the selected delimiter.
- Next action available: you can continue editing, filtering, or saving the split columns.
- No unwanted impact: the result is written into the blank columns on the right of the selected area.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: not checking whether the columns on the right are empty before running the command.
- Environment note: if there is already data on the right, clear or rearrange that area before splitting.
