How-to Guide
1. Change User Information for Tracked Changes
Entry: Review → drop-down menu next to Track Changes → Change Username
- Open the document you want to review or revise.
- Click the Review tab.
- Click the drop-down menu next to Track Changes.
- Select Change Username.
- Edit the Name and Initials in the dialog box.
- Select Use this user information in revisions.
- Click OK to save the settings.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The dialog box closes and the new name and initials are saved.
- What you can do next: When you add new tracked changes or comments, later records can use the updated user information.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you change the name but do not select Use this user information in revisions, the displayed review name may not update as expected.
- Limitation: Existing tracked changes usually do not change together with the new setting.
2. View User Information
Entry: File → User Information
- Open WPS Writer or the current document.
- Click the File menu in the upper-left corner.
- Open the option related to User Information.
- View the current name, initials, and related details in the right panel.
- If needed, edit the fields directly.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The right panel shows the current user information.
- What you can do next: You can continue editing the name and initials or return to the document.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Looking for the setting in the wrong menu level can prevent you from opening the user information panel.
- Limitation: Depending on the interface layout, the entry name may appear in a related settings area under the File menu.
