How-to Guide
1. Password Encryption
Feature path: File → Document Encryption → Password Encryption
- Click File.
- Select Password Encryption under Document Encryption.
- In the password window, set Open File Password and Modify File Password as needed.
- Click Apply to save the settings.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The password settings are saved in the password encryption window.
- What you can do next: When the file is opened again, WPS asks for the open password, or asks for the modify password before editing.
Tips While Using
- Keep the password in a safe place because a forgotten password cannot be recovered.
- If you need to control both viewing and editing, set both password types.
2. Remove Password Encryption
Feature path: File → Document Encryption → Password Encryption
- Click File.
- Select Password Encryption under Document Encryption.
- Delete the existing password values in the password window.
- Click Apply to save the change.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The password fields are cleared and the change is applied successfully.
- What you can do next: The file no longer asks for the related password when it is opened or edited later.
Tips While Using
- Confirm that the file no longer needs access restrictions before removing encryption.
- If the file still needs controlled distribution, save a separate copy before removing the password.
