How-to Guide
1. Apply strikethrough
Entry point: Home tab → Strikethrough button
- Select the text that you want to format.
- Click the Home tab.
- Click the Strikethrough button.
- A horizontal line appears through the selected text.
Success Criteria
- UI state: A single line appears through the middle of the selected text.
- Next actions: You can keep typing, save the file, or adjust other text formatting.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you do not select text first, the effect may not be applied to the target content.
2. Apply strikethrough through Text Properties
Entry point: Home tab → Text Properties drop-down menu → Text Properties → Text tab in the right task pane → Strikethrough button
- Select the text that you want to format.
- Click the Home tab.
- Open the Text Properties drop-down menu and select Text Properties.
- In the task pane on the right, select the Text tab.
- Click the Strikethrough button.
- A horizontal line appears through the selected text.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The right task pane shows text settings, and the target text displays strikethrough.
- Next actions: You can continue adjusting other text formatting in the same pane.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you do not switch to the Text tab, you may not see the related button.
3. Remove strikethrough
Entry point: Home tab → Strikethrough button
- Select the text that already has strikethrough.
- Click the Home tab.
- Click the Strikethrough button again.
- The strikethrough is removed.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The text returns to normal without a strikethrough line.
- Next actions: You can continue editing the text or apply other formatting.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If the selected text does not already have strikethrough, clicking again will not remove anything.
4. Apply double strikethrough

- Select the text that you want to format.

- Open the Text Properties drop-down menu and select Text Properties.
- In the task pane on the right, select the Text tab.
- Click the Double Strikethrough button.
- Two horizontal lines appear through the selected text.

- UI state: Two lines appear through the middle of the target text.
- Next actions: You can save the file or switch to other text styles.

5. Remove double strikethrough

- Open the Text Properties drop-down menu and select Text Properties.
- In the task pane on the right, select the Text tab.
- Click the Double Strikethrough button again.
- The double strikethrough is removed.
