1. Open Appearance Settings from the Global Settings menu
Entry path: Global Settings at the top right → Appearance Settings
- Open WPS Office.
- Click the Global Settings button at the top right.
- Select Appearance Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Review the available theme, icon, and Home page layout options.
Success Check
- Interface result: The Appearance Settings page opens.
- Next action available: You can continue to change the classic skin, desktop icon style, or Home page layout options.
Notes
- Common mistake: If you click Settings instead of Appearance Settings, you will open the general settings page first.
2. Open Appearance Settings from the Settings page sidebar
Entry path: Global Settings at the top right → Settings → Appearance Settings in the left sidebar
- Open WPS Office.
- Click the Global Settings button at the top right.
- Select Settings.
- In the left sidebar, click Appearance Settings.
Success Check
- Interface result: Appearance Settings is highlighted in the left sidebar or its content area is visible.
- Next action available: You can continue to adjust themes, icon styles, and Home page layout options.
Notes
- Common mistake: If the left sidebar category does not change, you may still be viewing another settings section.
3. Switch the classic skin theme
Entry path: Appearance Settings page → Classic Skin section
- Open the Appearance Settings page.
- Find the Classic Skin section.
- Choose one of the available themes: Default - Light, Default - Dark, Default - Follow System, or Medium Gray.
- Check whether the interface updates to the selected theme.
Success Check
- Interface result: The WPS interface changes to the selected theme.
- Next action available: You can return to Appearance Settings and switch to another theme at any time.
- Side effect check: No restart is required.
Notes
- Common mistake: The change may be missed if you do not look at the overall interface after selecting a theme.
- Environment note: When you choose Default - Follow System, the app appearance changes with the Windows system theme.
4. Change the desktop icon style
Entry path: Appearance Settings page → Desktop Icon section
- Open the Appearance Settings page.
- Find the Desktop Icon drop-down menu.
- Choose either Default or 2019 Beauty.
- Return to the desktop and check the icon appearance.
Success Check
- Interface result: The WPS desktop icon style is updated.
- Next action available: You can open the drop-down menu again and switch to the other style.
- Side effect check: No restart is required.
Notes
- Common mistake: If you do not check the desktop, you may overlook that the icon style has already changed.
5. Adjust the Home page layout display
Entry path: Appearance Settings page → Home Page Layout section
- Open the Appearance Settings page.
- Find the Home Page Layout section.
- Select Hide Home main navigation bar names if you want to hide the sidebar navigation names on the Home page.
- If needed, select Hide membership color for document creator names to hide the membership color mark in the document list.
- Return to the Home page and review the updated display.
Success Check
- Interface result: The Home page layout updates according to the selected options.
- Next action available: You can clear the options later to restore the previous display.
- Side effect check: These changes affect the Home page display only, not the document editing area.
Notes
- Common mistake: Home page layout changes can be mistaken for editor layout changes, but they only affect the Home page.
