How-to Index
| No. | Topic | Membership Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1. Apply strikethrough | Free |
| 2 | 2. Remove strikethrough | Free |
How-to Guide
1. Apply strikethrough
Entry: Home tab → Font group dialog box launcher → Font tab → Strikethrough
- Select the cell, range, or text that you want to format.
- Click the dialog box launcher in the lower-right corner of the Font group on the Home tab.
- In the Font tab, select Strikethrough under Effects.
- Click OK to apply the change.
- For a faster method, press Ctrl+5.
Success Criteria
- A horizontal line appears through the selected content.
- The original text, numbers, and formulas remain unchanged.
- The formatting stays in place after you save the file.
Tips While Using
- Ctrl+5 works as a toggle, so pressing it again removes the format.
- To format only part of the text in one cell, enter cell editing mode first and then select the specific text.
- Strikethrough is a display format, not a delete action.
2. Remove strikethrough
Entry: Home tab → Strikethrough button, or the Font settings dialog
- Select the cell or text that already has strikethrough.
- Open the Home tab.
- Click Strikethrough again, or open the Font settings dialog and clear Strikethrough.
- Confirm the change to remove the line.
Success Criteria
- The horizontal line disappears.
- The cell content returns to normal display.
- Other text styles remain as currently set.
Tips While Using
- If the line still appears, check whether only part of the text was changed instead of the full cell content.
- Before printing, use print preview to confirm the final appearance.
