1. Split Table Entry
Entry: Data tab → Split Table
- Open a smart spreadsheet file.
- Click the Data tab at the top of the window.
- Find the Split Table button on the toolbar.
- Click it to open the dialog box.
- Confirm that the Split by Content and Split by Worksheet tabs are available at the top of the dialog box.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the Split Table dialog box opens.
- Next action available: you can continue with Split by Content or Split by Worksheet.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if a smart spreadsheet is not open first, the related interface may not be available.
- Environment note: keep your network connection available if you plan to save results to cloud documents.
2. Split by Content
Entry: Data tab → Split Table → Split by Content
- Open Split Table and stay on, or switch to, the Split by Content tab.
- Click the Split range box, then drag to select the data range in the sheet, or enter the cell range directly.
- Turn Data contains header on or off as needed.
- Open the Split basis drop-down list and choose the column used for splitting.
- Choose how to save the results: different new worksheets or different new documents.
- If you choose new documents, click Change to adjust the save path if needed.
- Click Split Now to run the split.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: after the split, you can see new worksheets or new files in the target location.
- Next action available: you can open any split result and continue editing, saving, or sharing it.
- No unwanted change: the original source data remains in the current source sheet.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if the selected range does not include the actual data columns, the split basis may not be available correctly.

3. Split by Worksheet
Entry: Data tab → Split Table → Split by Worksheet
- Open the Split Table dialog box and switch to the Split by Worksheet tab.
- In the tree area, select the worksheets that you want to split into separate documents.
- If you want to split hidden worksheets too, turn on Include hidden worksheets.
- Confirm the path shown for Save split worksheets to.
- Click Change if you need a different save path.
- Click Split Now to run the split.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the selected worksheets are generated as separate documents.
- Next action available: you can open each new document and continue working on it.
- No unwanted change: the worksheet structure in the original workbook stays unchanged.
