1. Merge or unmerge cells from Home

Entry point: Open an AirSheet file → Enter editing mode → Home → Merge & Center

1. Open an AirSheet file and tap Edit at the bottom to enter editing mode.
2. Drag the selection handles on the cell border to select the cell range you want to merge.
3. Tap Home, swipe to find Merge & Center, and tap it.
4. The selected cells are merged into one cell, and only the value in the upper-left cell is kept.
5. If you want to restore the original structure, select the area again and use the related action to cancel the merge.

Success Criteria

• UI state: The selected area appears as one merged cell, and the original inner borders are removed.
• Next actions: You can continue entering a title, adjusting alignment, or saving the file.
• No side effects: Values that were not kept are not moved automatically into the merged cell.

Tips While Using

• Common mistakes: If the adjacent range is not selected completely, the merge action may not work.
• Data retention: After merging, only the upper-left cell content is kept, so confirm the value first.
• Environment limits: You need to enter editing mode before the related editing options appear.

2. Merge or unmerge cells from the floating toolbar

Entry point: Select a cell range → Open the floating toolbar → Merge & Center / Unmerge

1. Select the adjacent cell range that you want to merge in the table.
2. Tap to open the floating editing toolbar.
3. Find and tap Merge & Center in the toolbar to merge the selected area into one cell.
4. If you need to split a merged area, open the floating toolbar again and tap Unmerge.
5. Check whether the cells return to their original separate structure.

Success Criteria

• UI state: After merging, the area appears as one cell; after unmerging, it returns to multiple cells.
• Next actions: You can continue editing cell content, adjusting formatting, or saving the document.
• No side effects: Unmerging restores the structure, but content that was not kept before will not be restored automatically.

Tips While Using

• Common mistakes: If the floating toolbar is not opened, you may not see the shortcut entry.
• Data retention: Unmerging restores the structure, but it does not restore content that was overwritten during merging.
