Last updated:July 20, 2026

This FAQ focuses on 3 common questions about data retention, unmerging methods, and supported selection ranges when using Merge and Split Cells in WPS on iOS.

FAQ

What should I do if data seems missing after merging cells?

  1. Check whether the content in the upper-left cell before merging was the value you wanted to keep.
  2. If other cell content was not kept after merging, go back to the previous step if possible or reorganize the original data before merging again.
  3. Before merging a range with multiple values, back up important data or move the content you want to keep into the upper-left cell first.

How do I restore a merged cell to multiple cells?

  1. Select the merged cell.
  2. Find the related Unmerge option from Home or the floating toolbar.
  3. Tap it and check whether the cell returns to multiple separate cells.

Can I merge non-adjacent cells directly?

  1. First confirm that the selected range is a continuous group of adjacent cells.
  2. If the cells are scattered in different positions, adjust the table structure first or handle each area separately.
  3. Non-contiguous ranges cannot be merged as one area directly.
