How-to Guide

Entry point: Insert tab → Link button, or press Command+K

  1. Select the cell where you want to add a link.
  2. Click the Insert tab and then click Link, or press Command+K directly.
  3. Set the link information in the pop-up window.
  4. Enter the display text in Text.
  5. Choose a link type from the Type drop-down list.
  6. Enter the destination in Link/Address, or choose the target based on the selected type.
  7. Click OK to finish.

Success Criteria

  • The selected cell shows the link text you set.
  • The cell content can jump to the target destination.
  • The link information is saved in the current worksheet.
  • For web links, enter the full address to reduce jump failures.
  • If the destination is a local file, make sure the file path and access permission are valid.
  • Different link types may require different destination inputs, so confirm the target type before you finish the setup.

Entry point: Right-click the object or cell content that already contains a link

  1. Right-click the linked object or linked cell content.
  2. Select Edit Link to change the destination or other link details.
  3. If you want to remove the jump, select Remove Link.
  4. Check whether the cell content is still kept and whether the link status matches your expectation.

Success Criteria

  • After you choose Edit Link, the new destination takes effect.
  • After you choose Remove Link, the original content remains but no longer jumps.
  • Editing or removing the link does not affect the normal text content in the cell.

Tips While Using

  • Confirm the current destination before editing so you do not change the wrong link.
  • Removing a link deletes the jump behavior, but the display text usually remains.
  • If the right-click menu does not show the related options, first confirm that the object already has a link.
