How-to Guide
1. Insert Cells from the Insert Tab
Entry: Bottom Insert tab → Insert Cell
- Open the spreadsheet and go to the position where you want to insert cells, or select the target cell or range first.
- Tap the bottom Insert tab.
- Tap Insert Cell.
- Select Insert Cell, Shift Right or Insert Cell, Shift Down.
- Complete the insertion based on the current selection. The number of inserted cells depends on the selected range.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: New blank cells appear in the selected position, and surrounding cells move in the chosen direction.
- What you can do next: You can continue entering data, adjusting formatting, or saving the file.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the correct range is not selected first, the insertion position may not match your expectation.
- Environment note: The larger the selected range, the larger the affected area after insertion.
2. Insert Cells from the Floating Menu
Entry: Cell floating toolbar → More → Insert Cell, Shift Right/Down
- Open the spreadsheet and go to the position where you want to insert cells, or select the target cell or range first.
- Tap the cell to open the floating editing toolbar.
- Tap More in the floating menu.
- Select Insert Cell, Shift Right or Insert Cell, Shift Down.
- Wait for the sheet to complete the local structure adjustment in the selected direction.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: A blank inserted cell appears in the target position and existing data moves automatically.
- What you can do next: You can continue using the floating menu for other editing actions.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the floating menu is not opened first, the More entry may be hard to find.
- Environment note: The number of inserted cells still depends on the size of the selected range.
3. Delete Cells
Entry: Cell floating toolbar → More → Delete Cell, Shift Left/Up
- Open the spreadsheet and select the cell or range that you want to delete.
- Tap the cell to open the floating editing toolbar.
- Tap More.
- Select Delete Cell, Shift Left or Delete Cell, Shift Up.
- Check whether surrounding data has filled the gap as expected.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: The selected cells are removed, and surrounding cells fill the empty space in the chosen direction.
- What you can do next: You can continue editing, undo the action, or save the spreadsheet.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you do not confirm the affected range before deleting, nearby data may shift unexpectedly.
- Environment note: Deleting cells may affect formula references or adjacent data positions, so it is a good idea to review them right away.
