How-to Guide
1. Insert a Checkbox
Entry path: Insert tab → drop-down menu next to the Checkbox button
- Select the cell where you want to add a checkbox.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click the drop-down menu next to the Checkbox button.
- Select Set Checkbox.
Success Criteria
- A clickable checkbox appears in the selected cell.
- Clicking the checkbox changes its checked state.
Tips While Using
- Select the target cell before opening the menu so the checkbox is added in the correct place.
- A cell that already contains plain content cannot be directly set as a checkbox cell.
2. Clear a Checkbox
Entry path: Insert tab → drop-down menu next to the Checkbox button
- Select the cell that contains the checkbox you want to remove.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click the drop-down menu next to the Checkbox button.
- Select Clear Checkbox.
Success Criteria
- The checkbox is removed from the selected cell.
- The cell no longer shows the checkbox control.
Tips While Using
- Confirm the selected range before clearing so you do not remove other checkboxes by mistake.
- If you need to process multiple cells, select the full target range first and then clear the checkboxes.
3. Set a Column to the Checkbox Type
Entry path: three-dot icon next to the column header → Column Type → Checkbox
- Click the ... icon next to the target column header.
- Open the Column Type menu.
- Select Checkbox.
- The cells in that column are then set to checkbox content.
Success Criteria
- The current column displays cells as checkbox-type cells.
- Later entries in that column can use checkbox states directly.
Tips While Using
- This method works well when you want one full status column managed in the same format.
- If the column already contains plain text, review whether that data needs to be kept before changing the column type.
