1. Edit Chart Elements

Entry point: Click the chart → Chart Elements

  1. Click to select the inserted chart.
  2. Select Chart Elements.
  3. In the Chart Elements dialog, select or clear items such as chart title, axes, and data labels.
  4. If needed, continue in Quick Layout to switch to a different overall layout.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: Chart titles, axes, data labels, and similar elements are shown or hidden based on your settings.
  • Next actions: You can continue adjusting styles, properties, or chart type.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If the chart is not selected first, the related entry may not appear.
  • Environment limits: Make sure the chart data range and headers are complete so elements display correctly.

2. Change Chart Styles

Entry point: Click the chart → Chart Style

  1. Click to select the inserted chart.
  2. Select Chart Style.
  3. In the Style dialog, click a preset style to apply it to the current chart.
  4. In the Color dialog, switch chart color schemes and review the result.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The chart appearance, color scheme, or overall visual style changes.
  • Next actions: You can continue fine-tuning chart elements and properties.

  • Common mistakes: After switching through several styles, confirm that the final color scheme still matches the meaning of the data.

3. Modify Chart Properties

Entry point: Double-click the chart / click the chart → Edit Chart

  1. Double-click the chart, or click the chart and select Edit Chart to open the properties panel.
  2. In Data and Series, adjust the data range, horizontal axis categories, or series content.
  3. In chart element style areas, adjust color, font, title, axis title, horizontal and vertical axes, or data labels.
  4. Review the live preview and confirm the result.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The chart data range, series, or style settings are updated.
  • Next actions: You can continue changing the chart type or exporting the chart as an image.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If headers or key columns are left out when changing the data range, the chart may display incorrectly.

4. Change Chart Type

Entry point: Click the chart → Change Chart Type

  1. Select the chart you want to modify.
  2. Right-click the chart area and choose Change Type.
  3. In the pop-up panel, select a new chart type.
  4. Click OK to switch the chart to the new type while keeping the original data.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The chart changes to the selected display type.
  • Next actions: You can continue adjusting styles, elements, or export settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: After changing the chart type, some elements may display differently, so check labels and axes again.

5. Save as Picture

Entry point: Right-click the chart → Save as Picture

  1. Right-click the chart you want to save as an image.
  2. Choose Save as Picture from the menu.
  3. Select a save location in the pop-up panel.
  4. Click Save to store the chart image locally.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: A chart image file is created in the selected local folder.
  • Next actions: You can insert the image into a document, send it to others, or use it in report materials.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: Before exporting, confirm that the chart style and title are already finalized to avoid exporting again.
