How-to Guide
1. Open the Follow Document Updates entry
Entry: File > Document Management > Open Document Location
- Open the document that you want to track.
- Click File in the upper-left area of the document window.
- Select Document Management and then Open Document Location.
- Locate the current document in the document list.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: You are in the document list for the current file location.
- What you can do next: You can right-click the target document.
Tips While Using
- Open the target document first so it is easier to locate in the list.
- If the document is not accessible, the follow entry may not be available.
2. Follow the current document
Entry: Right-click menu in the document list > Follow Document Updates
- Find the target document in the document list.
- Right-click the document.
- Click Follow Document Updates in the shortcut menu.
- Keep the setting enabled.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The target document is now in a followed state.
- What you can do next: You can receive alerts when the document is updated.
Tips While Using
- You need permission to view the document.
- The follow status applies to the current account.
3. Receive alerts after the document is updated
Entry: Takes effect after the document is followed
- Follow the target document with the steps above.
- Keep your account able to receive message notifications.
- When the document is updated, check the notification center for the alert.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: You receive a related alert after the document changes.
- What you can do next: You can reopen the document from the alert and review the latest content.
Tips While Using
- This feature typically needs a network connection.
- Alert timing can be affected by network and message sync status.
4. Stop following document updates
Entry: Right-click menu in the document list > Follow Document Updates
- Go to File > Document Management > Open Document Location again.
- Find the document that is already being followed.
- Right-click the document.
- Click Follow Document Updates again to stop following it.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The document is no longer in a followed state.
- What you can do next: You will no longer receive update alerts for that document.
Tips While Using
- Stopping follow status only affects alerts for the current account.
- If you need to track the file again later, you can enable follow status again.
