1. Enter Smart Document editing mode
Entry path: Open a Smart Document → Edit in the lower-right corner
- Open WPS Office on your Android device.
- Open the Smart Document you want to edit.
- Tap Edit in the lower-right corner to enter editing mode.

- If editing mode is not enabled, the bottom + entry may not appear.

2. Place the cursor where the table should be inserted
Entry path: Tap directly in the document while in editing mode
- Find the paragraph or blank area where you want to add the table.
- Tap the target position so the cursor stays at the insertion point.
- Confirm that the table will be inserted near the current cursor position.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the editing cursor appears in the document.
- What you can do next: you can insert a table from the bottom toolbar.
Tips While Using
- Confirm the insertion point first so the table does not appear in the wrong paragraph.
- If the document is long, scroll to the target area before you continue.
3. Insert a table from the bottom toolbar
Entry path: Bottom toolbar + icon → Table
- While in editing mode, tap the + icon in the bottom toolbar.
- In the pop-up function list, tap Table.
- Wait for the table to be inserted at the current cursor position.
- Type the content you need inside the table cells.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: a new table appears in the document.
- What you can do next: you can type inside the table and continue editing the document.
Tips While Using
- This table is intended for document layout and information display.
- If you only need to organize simple information, you can enter the content directly in the inserted table.
4. Know when to switch to Spreadsheet
Entry path: Decide after inserting a table
- Check whether the current table is only for text display, lists, or side-by-side information.
- If you need formulas, filtering, or statistics, do not continue using the layout table for complex data.
- Return to the insert-related tools and use Spreadsheet for data-oriented content.
- Keep the document table for explanatory or display-focused content.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: you have clearly separated layout-table use from spreadsheet use.
- What you can do next: you can move to Spreadsheet when calculations are required.
Tips While Using
- Tables in Smart Documents do not support formulas or filters.
- If cells are merged later, the text in the merged area will display together, so it helps to confirm the layout first.
