Entry path: Document editing area → type / → select Task List
- Place the cursor on a blank line in the document.

Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If
/is not entered on a blank line, the pop-up menu may not show the expected options.- Environment note: The document must be editable.
2. Insert a Task List from the Ribbon
Entry path: Document editing area → ribbon → Task List icon
- Place the cursor where you want to insert the task list.
- Select the Task List icon on the ribbon.
- Enter the task text and press Enter to add the next item.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: A task-list item appears at the cursor position.
- What you can do next: Continue entering multiple task items in sequence.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the cursor is not placed in the target location first, the task list is inserted at the current cursor line.
3. Add a Task List from the Insert Menu
Entry path: Document editing area → ribbon → Insert drop-down menu → Task List
- Place the cursor where you want to insert the task list.
- Open the Insert drop-down menu on the ribbon.
- Select Task List.

4. Insert a Task List with the Paragraph Handle
Entry path: Select the target paragraph → select the paragraph handle → choose Task List
- Place the cursor in the paragraph you want to adjust, or select one or more paragraphs.
- Select the paragraph handle icon on the left.
- Select Task List to convert the current paragraph into task-list formatting.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: A checkbox appears before the selected paragraph.
- What you can do next: Keep editing the text or add more task items after it.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the target paragraph is not selected clearly, the change may apply only to the paragraph where the cursor is located.
5. Check or Uncheck a Task Item
Entry path: Select the checkbox on the left side of a task item
- Find the task item whose status you want to update.
- Select the checkbox on the left to mark the task as completed.
- Select the checkbox again to clear it and return the item to an incomplete state.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: After checking the box, the task text shows a strikethrough; after clearing it, the strikethrough disappears.
- What you can do next: Continue editing task text or update other task items.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Selecting the text area does not change the checkbox state; select the checkbox itself.
