- Open any Smart Document.
- Click the File menu in the upper-left corner. Its icon is ≡.
- Select Document Settings.
- In the settings panel, click Personal Preferences.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The Personal Preferences panel opens.
- What you can do next: You can see sections such as New Document, Open Document, and Assisted Editing.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you have not opened a Smart Document first, the related settings entry may not appear.
2. Set default styles for new documents
Entry path: Personal Preferences → New Document
- Open the Personal Preferences panel.
- Find the New Document section.
- In Text Style, choose the default style you want, such as system font, WPS Lingxiuhei Elegant, or WPS Lingxiuhei Simple.
- In Page Width Mode, choose Standard, Wider, or Full Width.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected text style and page width are shown as the current options in the New Document section.
- What you can do next: New Smart Documents can open with this default style later.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Page width affects the default display of later new documents and does not automatically change existing documents that were already adjusted manually.
3. Set default styles when opening documents
Entry path: Personal Preferences → Open Document
- In the Personal Preferences panel, find the Open Document section.
- For Text Style, choose Follow Original Document or Custom.
- If you choose Custom, select the text style you want.
- For Page Width Mode, choose Follow Original Document or Custom, then choose Standard, Wider, or Full Width as needed.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The Open Document section shows the current text style and page width mode you selected.
- What you can do next: When you open other documents for the first time, they can follow your current preference settings.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If a document already has its page width adjusted separately, it may no longer follow the default page width setting.
4. Adjust assisted editing preferences
Entry path: Personal Preferences → Assisted Editing
- In the Personal Preferences panel, click Assisted Editing.
- Turn Show quick action prompts on blank lines on or off as needed.
- Turn Add spacing between Chinese and English or numbers on or off as needed.
- Under Default highlight block color, choose Follow last used or select a color directly.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The switches and color option in Assisted Editing are updated.
- What you can do next: Return to the document and continue editing with the updated assisted editing behavior.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: The default highlight block color only affects later highlight blocks and does not batch-change existing content.
