How-to Guide
1. Open Version History and review records
Entry path: File > History > Version History
- Open the target document in WPS for Windows.
- Click File.
- Go to History > Version History.
- Review the available records in the history panel.
- For collaborative documents, confirm that you have edit permission. Without it, collaboration records and the history panel may not be visible.
Success Criteria
- The history panel opens and shows available document records.
- You can continue reviewing version entries in the panel.
Tips While Using
- If the panel does not appear for a collaborative document, check whether your account has edit permission.
- Keep the network connection stable when working with collaborative records.
2. Preview, rename, restore, or save a historical version
Entry path: File > History > Version History > More
- In the history panel, locate the version you want.
- Click the More button next to that version.
- Choose the action you need:
- Preview to inspect the version first.
- Rename to label an important milestone.
- Restore this version to replace the current document content with that version.
- Save As to keep that version as a new file.
- Delete version to remove a record you no longer need.
- Before restoring, make sure any current content you still need has been saved elsewhere if necessary.
Success Criteria
- The selected action is available from the More menu.
- The chosen version can be previewed, renamed, restored, saved as a new file, or deleted as needed.
Tips While Using
- Restoring a version replaces the current document content.
- Use Save As if you want to keep a historical version without overwriting the current file.
