1. Create a comment from the right-click menu

Feature entry: Right-click menu → Insert Comment

  1. Select the cell where you want to add a comment.
  2. Right-click the cell.
  3. Click Insert Comment.
  4. Type your note in the comment box.
  5. Click any blank area in the worksheet to finish.

Success Criteria

  • A small red triangle appears in the upper-right corner of the cell.
  • You can hover over the cell to view the comment.

Tips While Using

  • A comment adds explanation only and does not change the original cell value.

2. Create a comment from the Review tab

Feature entry: Review → New Comment

  1. Select the target cell.
  2. Open the Review tab.
  3. Click New Comment.
  4. Enter the content and click a blank area to confirm.

Success Criteria

  • The selected cell shows a comment indicator.
  • The comment content can be viewed when you hover over the cell.

3. Edit a comment from the right-click menu

Feature entry: Right-click menu → Edit Comment

  1. Right-click a cell that already contains a comment.
  2. Click Edit Comment.
  3. Change the text in the active comment box.
  4. Click a blank area to save the change.

Success Criteria

  • The comment text is updated.
  • The original cell value stays the same.

4. Edit a comment from the Review tab

Feature entry: Review → Edit Comment

  1. Select a cell that contains a comment.
  2. Open the Review tab.
  3. Click Edit Comment.
  4. Update the content and confirm.

Success Criteria

  • The comment box enters edit mode.
  • The updated content displays normally.

5. Show or hide one comment

Feature entry: Right-click menu → Show/Hide Comment; or Review → Show → Show/Hide Comment

  1. Select or right-click a cell that contains a comment.
  2. Click Show/Hide Comment.
  3. Check whether the current comment switches between visible and hidden.

Success Criteria

  • The selected comment toggles between shown and hidden.

6. Show or hide all comments

Feature entry: Review → Show → Show All Comments

  1. Open the Review tab.
  2. Open the Show drop-down menu.
  3. Click Show All Comments.
  4. Click it again to hide all comments.

Success Criteria

  • All comments in the worksheet can be shown or hidden at once.

7. Delete a comment from the right-click menu

Feature entry: Right-click menu → Delete Comment

  1. Right-click a cell that contains a comment.
  2. Click Delete Comment.

Success Criteria

  • The comment indicator disappears from the cell.
  • Hovering over the cell no longer shows the old comment.

8. Delete a comment from the Review tab

Feature entry: Review → Delete Comment

  1. Select a cell that contains a comment.
  2. Open the Review tab.
  3. Click Delete Comment.

Success Criteria

  • The comment is removed from the selected cell.

9. Go to the previous or next comment

Feature entry: Review → Previous / Next

  1. Open the Review tab.
  2. Click Previous or Next.
  3. Check whether the selection moves to the related comment location.

Success Criteria

  • You can move through comments in sequence.
  • The current review position updates as you navigate.

10. Reset the current comment or all comments

Feature entry: Review → Reset Current Comment / Reset All Comments

  1. Select a cell with a comment, or open the Review tab directly.
  2. Click Reset Current Comment or Reset All Comments.
  3. Check whether the comment box format, size, and position return to the default state.

Success Criteria

  • The current comment or all comments return to the default display state.

Tips While Using

  • Reset commands are useful when you want to clean up comment box appearance.
