1. Apply preset table styles

Feature entry: Home → Table Styles

  1. Select the entire table range where you want to apply a style.
  2. Click the Table Styles button on the Home tab.
  3. In the expanded style gallery, select a preset style.
  4. Click the style to apply it to the current table.

Success Criteria

  • The selected range shows a new table appearance.
  • Fills, borders, or highlighted areas have changed.
  • You can continue editing the table content.

Tips While Using

  • Select the full table range before applying a style.
  • If only part of the range is selected, the style may affect only the current selection.

2. Switch first-row, first-column, and alternating effects

Feature entry: Home → Table Styles

  1. Select the table range that already has a style or is ready for styling.
  2. Open the Table Styles panel.
  3. Choose First Column Fill, First Row Fill, Alternate Row Fill, or Alternate Column Fill.
  4. Review the real-time preview and keep the display options you need.

Success Criteria

  • The first row, first column, or alternating rows and columns show the expected emphasis.
  • Key information in the table is easier to identify.

Tips While Using

  • The visual result may vary depending on the preset style you selected.
  • Before printing, review the table to confirm that highlighted areas are clear.

3. Clear an applied table style

Feature entry: Home → Clear Formatting

  1. Select the cells or table range that you want to reset.
  2. Click Clear Formatting.
  3. Check whether the table has returned to its default appearance.
  4. If needed, apply a different table style again.

Success Criteria

  • The current range no longer shows the applied style effect.
  • The table returns to a default or simpler appearance.

Tips While Using

  • Before applying a new style, check whether you still need any manual formatting.
  • A new style may overwrite earlier manual adjustments.
