How-to Guide

1. Apply a Table Style

Entry: Bottom toolbar Tools → Home tab → Table Styles

  1. Select the table range you want to format, preferably including the header row.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. Tap Table Styles.
  5. Choose the style you want in the style panel.
  6. Tap OK to finish.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected range shows the new table style.
  • Next action available: You can continue editing cells or reopen Table Styles to adjust the effect.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the full table range is not selected, the style may apply to only part of the cells.
  • Environment note: It is easier to confirm the entry after you open a spreadsheet and select the target range.

2. Adjust Style Effects

Entry: Bottom toolbar Tools → Home tab → Table Styles

  1. Select the table range you want to style.
  2. Open the Table Styles panel.
  3. Choose the effects you need, such as first row fill, first column fill, last row fill, last column fill, alternating row fill, or alternating column fill.
  4. Preview whether the current effect matches your table presentation needs.
  5. Tap OK to save the current settings.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The table displays the selected fill or alternating pattern effects.
  • Next action available: You can continue adjusting other formatting or use the table directly for display and sharing.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: When switching multiple effects, first confirm that the header and data range are selected as intended.
  • Environment note: Alternating row or column effects may look different depending on table density and content.

3. Remove an Applied Style

Entry: Bottom toolbar Tools → Home tab → Table Styles

  1. Select the range that already has a table style applied.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom and open the Home tab.
  3. Open Table Styles.
  4. Select No Style.
  5. Confirm the result.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The current range no longer shows the applied table style appearance.
  • Next action available: You can apply another style or keep the plain table view.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If only part of the range is selected, other areas may still keep the previous style.
