How-to Guide
1. Apply Strikethrough
Feature entry: Home tab → Font group → strikethrough-related settings
- Select the cell or text where you want to add strikethrough.
- Click the dialog box launcher in the lower-right corner of the Font group on the Home tab.
- In the Font tab, select Strikethrough in the Effects area.
- Click OK to apply the setting.
- For a faster method, you can also try the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+5.
Success Criteria
- A horizontal line appears through the selected text.
- The original data in the cell remains available for editing, copying, and calculation.
- Other unselected content in the worksheet is not changed at the same time.
Tips While Using
- If you only want to format part of the text, enter cell editing mode first and then select the target text.
- Strikethrough is a formatting effect and does not delete actual data.
- Whether the shortcut works can depend on the current input state or system shortcut conflicts.
2. Remove Strikethrough
Feature entry: Home tab → Strikethrough button or font settings
- Select the cell or text that already has strikethrough.
- Click the Home tab.
- Click the Strikethrough button again, or open the font settings and clear Strikethrough.
- The strikethrough is removed.
Success Criteria
- The existing horizontal line no longer appears.
- The cell text returns to normal display.
- The data itself remains unchanged.
Tips While Using
- Strikethrough works as a toggle, so applying it again removes it.
- If a cell contains mixed formatting, make sure the correct range is selected.
- Removing strikethrough does not affect bold, italic, or other styles unless you change them manually at the same time.
