1. Open the Split Table entry

Entry path: Data → Split Table

  1. Open a WPS Spreadsheet collaborative file.
  2. Click the Data tab at the top of the window.
  3. Find the Split Table button on the toolbar.
  4. Click it to open the dialog box with the Split by Content and Split by Worksheet tabs.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Split Table dialog box opens.
  • Next action available: You can continue with Split by Content or Split by Worksheet.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the current file is not in the expected collaboration context, the available entry may differ.
  • Environment note: Keep your network connection stable if you want to save results to cloud documents.

2. Split by content

Entry path: Data → Split Table → Split by Content

  1. Open the Split Table dialog box and stay on the Split by Content tab.
  2. Click the Split Range box, then drag to select the data range you want to split, or enter the cell range directly.
  3. Select or clear Data contains header based on your table structure.
  4. Open the Split by drop-down list and choose the column used as the split condition.
  5. Choose how to save the results: as different new worksheets or as different new documents.
  6. If you choose new documents, click Change when needed to adjust the save location.
  7. Click Split Now to run the operation.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Multiple split results are created.
  • Next action available: You can open each new worksheet or document and review the separated data.
  • No unwanted change: The source table remains available with its original data.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the selected range does not include the target column, the split basis may not work as expected.
  • Environment note: Saving as new documents in My Cloud Documents requires an account and network access.

3. Split by worksheet

Entry path: Data → Split Table → Split by Worksheet

  1. Open the Split Table dialog box and switch to the Split by Worksheet tab.
  2. In the tree area, select the worksheets you want to split into separate documents.
  3. If needed, turn on Include hidden worksheets.
  4. Confirm the save path for the split worksheets and click Change if you want a different location.
  5. Click Split Now to run the operation.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected worksheets are created as separate cloud documents.
  • Next action available: You can open, edit, or share each new document separately.
  • No unwanted change: The original workbook structure stays unchanged.
