How-to Guide
1. Split by Delimiter
Entry path: Tools → Data → Split Columns
- Select the cell or range that you want to split.
- Tap Tools at the bottom of the screen and open the Data tab.
- Tap Split Columns.
- Select a delimiter type: comma, space, semicolon, or plus sign.
- Check the result and confirm that the split data appears in columns to the right of the original selection.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: the selected content is split into multiple columns on the right.
- Next actions available: you can continue editing, reviewing, saving, or undoing the result.
- No unexpected changes: unrelated areas of the spreadsheet remain unchanged.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if there is already data on the right, the split result may affect existing content, so leave blank columns first.
- Environment note: the result depends on whether the original text contains a clear delimiter.
- Practical tip: test the delimiter in a blank area first before applying it to final data.
