Will data be lost after merging cells?
- Check whether multiple cells in the selected range already contain content.
- Keep in mind that merging usually keeps only the value in the upper-left cell.
- If you need to keep the original data, make a copy before you merge.
Does merging cells affect sorting and filtering?
- In areas that need sorting or filtering, first decide whether merged cells are really necessary.
- If the area needs frequent data processing, avoid merging key data columns when possible.
- If merged cells are already affecting the workflow, unmerge them before sorting or filtering.
Where else can I find merge or unmerge commands besides the Home tab?
- Select the target cell or cell range first.
- Right-click to open the shortcut menu.
