1. Lock Cells
Entry path: Tools → Start → Protect Cells → Lock
- Select the cells that you want to protect.
- Tap the Tools tab at the bottom and switch to Start.
- Find Protect Cells, then turn on Lock.
- The selected cells are now set as locked cells.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected cells have completed the lock setting.
- What you can do next: You can continue to Protect Worksheet to make the restriction take effect.
Tips While Using
- The lock attribute alone does not immediately block editing. You still need to turn on worksheet protection.
- It is helpful to decide which areas should remain editable before setting the locked range.
2. Protect the Worksheet
Entry path: Tools → Review → Protect Worksheet
- Tap the Tools tab at the bottom and switch to Review.
- Tap Protect Worksheet.
- Select the actions users are allowed to perform, such as Select locked cells or Select unlocked cells.
- Confirm the password as prompted and finish the setup.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The worksheet enters a protected state.
- What you can do next: Unlocked areas remain editable based on your settings, while locked areas cannot be changed freely.
Tips While Using
- The locked cells you set earlier only take effect after Protect Worksheet is enabled.
- Keep the password in a safe place because it is needed later to remove protection.
