1. Insert a Hyperlink
Entry point: Insert tab → Link
- Select the cell where you want to add a link.
- Click Link on the Insert tab, or press
Cmd+K. - In the dialog box, enter the text you want to display.
- Open the Type drop-down list and choose the target type.
- In the link or address area, enter the destination or select the target.
- Click OK to finish.
Success Criteria
- The selected cell displays clickable link text.
- Hovering over the cell shows the link address or target information.
- Clicking the link opens the related webpage, cell, worksheet, or other destination.
Tips While Using
- For web links, enter the full address so the destination opens correctly.
- Different link types require different target information, so confirm the destination before saving.
- If the link points to an external webpage or script target, make sure your current environment can access it.
2. Edit or Remove a Link
Entry point: Right-click the linked object → Edit Link / Remove Link
- Right-click the cell or object that already contains a link.
- Select Edit Link to change the destination or link type.
- If you want to remove the link, select Remove Link.
- Check the cell content after the change to confirm the result.
Success Criteria
- After editing, the link opens the new destination.
- After removal, the original text or content remains in the cell.
- Other spreadsheet content is not deleted when the link is changed.
Tips While Using
- Confirm the original destination before editing so you do not change the wrong target.
- Removing a link only deletes the jump relationship and does not automatically delete the cell text.
