1. Insert a Checkbox
Entry point: Insert tab → drop-down menu next to the Checkbox button
- Select the cell where you want to add a checkbox.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click the drop-down menu next to the Checkbox button.
- Select Set Checkbox.
Success Criteria
- A checkbox appears in the selected cell.
- The checkbox can be checked and unchecked.

2. Clear a Checkbox
Entry point: Insert tab → drop-down menu next to the Checkbox button
- Select the cell where you want to remove the checkbox.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click the drop-down menu next to the Checkbox button.
- Select Clear Checkbox.
Success Criteria
- The checkbox is removed from the target cell.
- The cell can be used like a regular content cell again.
Tips While Using
- Confirm the selected range before clearing checkboxes.
- For batch changes, review the selected column or area first.
3. Set a Column Type to Checkbox
Entry point: three-dot icon next to the column header → Column Type → Checkbox
- Click the three-dot icon next to the target column header.
- Select the Column Type menu.
- Click Checkbox.
- The cells in that column are then set to checkbox content.
Success Criteria
- The target column is displayed as a checkbox-type column.
- Cells in that column can be used for checked-state entry.
Tips While Using
- This works well when a full column needs a consistent yes/no style input.
- Check whether the column already contains content you want to keep before changing the type.
