How-to Guide
1. Copy Format
Entry path: Tools → Home → Format Painter → Copy Format
- Select the cell whose formatting you want to copy.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap Copy Format.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: the formatting from the selected cell is ready to be applied elsewhere.
- Next action: you can continue with Paste Format.
Tips While Using

2. Paste Format
Entry path: Tools → Home → Format Painter → Paste Format
- Complete Copy Format first.
- Select the target range where you want to apply the formatting.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap Paste Format.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: the target range shows the same formatting style as the source cell.
- Next action: you can continue editing or save the file.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if you try to paste formatting before copying it, the target range will not receive the expected style.

3. Clear Format
Entry path: Tools → Home → Format Painter → Clear Format
- Select the range whose formatting you want to remove.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap Clear Format.

- Next action: you can apply a new style to the same cells.
