How-to Guide

1. Copy Format

Entry path: Tools → Home → Format Painter → Copy Format

  1. Select the cell whose formatting you want to copy.
  2. Tap Tools.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. Tap Copy Format.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: the formatting from the selected cell is ready to be applied elsewhere.
  • Next action: you can continue with Paste Format.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if you do not select a source cell first, the copied result will not match your expectation.

2. Paste Format

Entry path: Tools → Home → Format Painter → Paste Format

  1. Complete Copy Format first.
  2. Select the target range where you want to apply the formatting.
  3. Tap Tools.
  4. Open the Home tab.
  5. Tap Paste Format.

  • On-screen result: the target range shows the same formatting style as the source cell.
