FAQ
Does data validation in a collaborative sheet apply to all collaborators?
- Data validation rules are saved in the current spreadsheet file.
- Other collaborators editing the same sheet follow the same rules.
- To keep team input consistent, set the rules before sharing the file for editing.
How do I batch update an existing data validation rule or source?
- Select the cell range that already has data validation applied.
- Open the Data Validation dialog.
- Edit the existing source or validation rule.
- Enable Apply these changes to all other cells with the same settings.
- Click OK to update the rule in batch.
Why do I see a warning or fail to enter data in a validated cell?
- Check whether the cell already has a data validation rule.
- If the entered value does not match the drop-down options, allowed range, or other rule conditions, an error alert appears.
- If the alert style is set to reject invalid input, the value cannot be entered into the cell.
- Adjust the entry based on the message, or update the rule if you manage the sheet.
