1. Add Conditional Formatting

Entry path: Select cells → tap Tools at the bottom → switch to the Data tab → tap Conditional Formatting

  1. Select the cells or data range where you want to apply conditional formatting.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Switch to the Data tab.
  4. Tap Conditional Formatting to open the settings screen.
  5. Add a rule as needed and choose an appropriate highlight style.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Conditional Formatting settings screen opens and the rule setup area is visible.
  • Next action available: You can continue choosing styles, save a rule, or return to the sheet to review the result.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not select the target cells first, the rule may not apply to the intended range.
  • Environment note: You need to work in an editable spreadsheet.

2. Manage Existing Rules

Entry path: Select a range with rules or a target range → Tools → Data → Conditional Formatting → Manage Existing Rules

  1. Select the cells or data range whose rules you want to review.
  2. Tap Tools and open the Data tab.
  3. Tap Conditional Formatting.
  4. Tap Manage Existing Rules.
  5. In the rule list, add a new rule or delete an existing rule.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: You can see the list of existing rules for the current range.
  • Next action available: You can add rules, delete rules, and return to the sheet to review the updated result.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the wrong range is selected, the displayed rule scope may not match what you expect.

3. Clear Conditional Formatting

Entry path: Tap Tools at the bottom → Home → Conditional Formatting → Clear Rules

  1. Open the worksheet where you want to remove conditional formatting.
  2. If you only want to clear part of the sheet, select the target cells first.
  3. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  4. Open the Home tab and tap Conditional Formatting.
  5. Tap Clear Rules.
  6. Choose Clear Rules from Entire Sheet or Clear Rules from Selected Cells.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Existing conditional formatting styles are removed.
  • Next action available: You can set new conditional formatting rules again.

Tips While Using
