  3. Find the Calculation Options button on the ribbon.
  4. Click the button to open the Calculation Options dialog box.
  5. Review the Formula Calculation and Recalculation sections in the dialog box.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Calculation Options dialog box is open.
  • Next action available: You can continue to configure iterative calculation, displayed precision, or recalculation mode.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not open the Formulas tab first, the entry can be harder to locate.
  • Environment note: You need an editable workbook open in WPS Sheets.

2. Set formula calculation parameters

Entry: Calculation Options dialog box → Formula Calculation section

  1. In the Calculation Options dialog box, locate the Formula Calculation section.
  2. To allow circular references to calculate, select Iterative Calculation.
  3. Enter or adjust the value for Maximum Iterations.
  4. Enter the value you want for Maximum Error.
  5. If later calculations should use displayed values, select Calculate with Displayed Precision.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The related check boxes and numeric settings are configured as needed.
  • Next action available: You can continue to set the recalculation mode and save the changes.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Turning on iterative calculation for a worksheet that does not need circular-reference handling can make troubleshooting harder.
  • Environment note: Precision as displayed directly affects later formula results, so confirm the business requirement before enabling it.

3. Switch the recalculation mode

Entry: Calculation Options dialog box → Recalculation section

  1. In the Recalculation section, choose Automatic Recalculation or Manual Recalculation.
  2. Click OK after making your selection.
  3. If you switch to manual mode, check the status bar for the related prompt.
  4. Return to the worksheet and edit data to confirm whether formulas update automatically.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The dialog box closes and the setting is saved.
  • Next action available: The worksheet now updates formulas according to the selected mode.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: After switching to manual mode, it is easy to forget to recalculate and then review outdated results.
  • Environment note: This setting can affect how collaborators experience the current workbook, so align with the team first.

4. Manually recalculate formulas

Entry: Formulas tab → Recalculate button

  1. First set the workbook to manual recalculation mode.
  2. Edit data or formulas in the worksheet.
  3. Click Recalculate on the Formulas tab, or press F9.
  4. If you only need to recalculate the active worksheet, press Shift+F9.
  5. Check whether the related formula results have been updated.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The related formula results are refreshed.
  • Next action available: You can continue editing, reviewing, or saving the worksheet.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Editing data without running recalculation can lead to incorrect result checks.
  • Environment note: When you recalculate only the active worksheet, confirm whether linked worksheets also need updates.
