How-to Guide
1. Find the Calculation Options entry
Entry: Formulas → Calculation Options
- Open WPS Spreadsheet and go to the workbook you want to adjust.
- Click the Formulas tab at the top of the window.
- Find the Calculation Options button on the toolbar.
- Click it to open the Calculation Options dialog box.
- Confirm that the dialog shows both Formula Calculation and Recalculation sections.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The Calculation Options dialog box is open.
- Next action available: You can continue adjusting formula calculation or recalculation settings.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you are not inside a spreadsheet workbook first, the related entry may not be visible.
2. Configure formula calculation settings
Entry: Calculation Options dialog box → Formula Calculation
- In the Calculation Options dialog box, locate the Formula Calculation section.
- To allow circular-reference models to calculate, select Iterative Calculation.
- Enter or adjust the value for Maximum Iterations.
- Enter the value you want for Maximum Error.
- If later calculations should use displayed values, select Precision as Displayed.
- Review the recalculation section before saving all settings together.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The related checkboxes and numeric fields are set as needed.
- Next action available: You can continue switching between automatic and manual recalculation and then save.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Before turning on Precision as Displayed, confirm that the displayed value is the value you want used in later calculations.
- Environment note: Iterative calculation is more suitable for sheets with circular references or approximation models.
3. Switch recalculation modes
Entry: Calculation Options dialog box → Recalculation
- In the Recalculation section, choose Automatic Recalculation or Manual Recalculation.
- Click OK in the lower-right corner to save the setting.
- If you switch to manual recalculation, press F9 after editing data to recalculate formulas in all worksheets.
- If you only need to update the active worksheet, press Shift+F9.
- You can also use Formulas → Recalculate to trigger recalculation manually.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The calculation mode is switched and saved.
- Next action available: After editing cells, you can observe whether formulas update automatically under the selected mode.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: In manual mode, formula results do not update immediately after data changes.
- Environment note: In collaboration scenarios, confirm the workbook’s current calculation mode with the team first.
