Feature entry: Home tab → Bold

  1. Select the cell that you want to make bold, or select part of the text while editing a cell.
  2. Click the B icon in the font area on the Home tab.
  3. Confirm that the text now appears in bold.
  4. Click the B icon again if you want to remove bold.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected content appears in a bolder text style.
  • What you can do next: You can keep typing, save the file, or apply other text formatting.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not select the target cell or text first, the result may not apply where you expect.
  • Environment note: In collaborative spreadsheets, keep a network connection so formatting changes can sync normally.

2. Use the keyboard shortcut for bold

Feature entry: Ctrl + B

  1. Select the target cell or the specific text inside a cell.
  2. Press Ctrl + B.
  3. Check whether the selected content has switched to bold.
  4. Press Ctrl + B again if you want to turn bold off.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected content switches to bold immediately.
  • What you can do next: You can continue formatting multiple cells more quickly.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: The shortcut may not work if WPS is not the active window.
  • Environment note: If you want to bold only part of the text, make sure the cursor is already in cell editing mode.

3. Apply bold from the floating toolbar

Feature entry: Right-click floating toolbar after selecting content

  1. Select the target text inside the cell.
  2. Right-click to open the floating mini toolbar.
  3. Click the bold option on that toolbar.
  4. Check whether the text has been updated to bold.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The floating toolbar appears after right-clicking, and the selected text becomes bold after you click the option.
  • What you can do next: You can continue with italic, underline, or other nearby formatting actions.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you only select the cell without entering text editing mode, partial-text bold formatting may not work as expected.

4. Apply bold through Format Cells

Feature entry: Right-click → Format Cells → Font

  1. Select the target cell range.
  2. Right-click and choose Format Cells, or press Ctrl + 1 to open the panel.
  3. In the font-related settings, choose a bold style.
  4. Click OK to apply the setting.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Text in the selected cell range appears in bold consistently.
  • What you can do next: You can continue adjusting font size, font family, or other formatting options in batches.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the selected range is incomplete, some cells may not receive the same formatting.
