FAQ

Why can’t I set the first-page header separately?

  1. Open the Page Setup dialog and go to the Layout tab.
  2. In Headers and footers, select Different first page.
  3. Click OK, then edit the first-page header and the other page headers separately.

Why are different chapter layout settings not taking effect separately?

  1. Check whether the document already has the section breaks you need.
  2. In Layout, confirm that Section start matches the formatting structure you want.
  3. Apply the settings again and review whether the target section now shows different page behavior.

How do I apply layout settings to only part of a document?

  1. Open the Layout tab in Page Setup.
  2. In Apply to, choose Selected text or This point forward.
  3. Click OK and check whether only the target part of the document has changed.
