1. Apply italics from the Home tab

Entry point: Home tab → Italic

  1. Open a WPS Writer document.
  2. Select the text you want to format in italics.
  3. Click the Home tab.
  4. Click Italic.
  5. Check whether the selected text is now italicized.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected text appears in italic style.
  • What you can do next: You can keep typing, copy content, or save the document.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If no text is selected first, the command may affect text you type next instead of existing text.
  • Environment note: The document needs to be editable.

2. Toggle italics with a keyboard shortcut

Entry point: Select text and press Ctrl+I

  1. Select the target text in the document.
  2. Press Ctrl+I.
  3. Check whether the text switches to italics.
  4. To remove italics, press Ctrl+I again.

  • Interface result: The text switches between regular and italic formatting.

3. Apply italics from Text Properties

Entry point: Home tab → Text Properties drop-down → Text Properties → Text → Italic

  1. Select the text you want to adjust.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Open the Text Properties drop-down menu and select Text Properties.
  4. In the task pane on the right, switch to the Text tab.
  5. Click Italic.
  6. Confirm that the text style has been updated.

4. Apply italics from the floating toolbar

  3. Click Italic on the floating toolbar.
  4. Check whether the text is now italicized.
